{Tim Lee}
Born in the West Midlands, emerging artist Timothy Hon Hung Lee studied Fine Art at Leeds Metropolitan University. Of Chinese descent, Tim is very interested in the tradition of eastern art. His works pay homage to past Chinese dynasties such as Tang, Song and Qing eras. The traditional forms of these cultures are intertwined in his drawings and from an early age his work always gravitated towards images of a melancholic nature.
Tim’s current collection of ink drawings on rice paper– unique in composition – was inspired after finding work as an illustrator in early 2008. Intensely passionate, each composition takes up to a month to complete. It touches on areas that affect humans such as loss, time, violence, romance and mortality.
Inspired by film and photography and an admirer of contemporary art, he cites Wong Kar Wai, David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick as major influences.
Various art publications such as Nyarts Magazine, Beautiful Decay and Juxtapose are showing a keen interested in his work. 2009 sees his compositions exhibited in galleries in New York, Canada and The Netherlands.
