{Gail Troth}

Gail Troth graduated in 2003 from the University of Central England with a first class honours degree in Fine Art. Since then she has continued to be in demand and her most recent exhibitions have included 'Art & Islam' at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and 'Sense & Sensuality' at the Bankside Gallery in London.
Her aim is to produce paintings that paint themselves and generate outcomes of surprise. I construct them using a method developed during my degree course in Fine Art. This entails dropping the paint into a fluid filled canvas; she does not touch the canvas at all. The paint is carefully diluted to affect its mass density. The paint is then dripped onto the canvas from concentric circles.  As they hit the surface of the connecting fluid, each impact effects every area of the work to some extent.
This non-interventionist approach allows the paint to self-organise to produce delicate structure and pattern beyond manual dexterity. As the paintings dry self-organisation occurs as critical decisions are made at the most intricate level within the paint itself. The results that arise by this method often resemble structures that occur within natural self-organising systems, for example animal and plant cells or mineral and crystal formations.
